It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the Jagiellonian University, Cracow, Institute of Intercultural Studies website. The institute is part of a dynamically developing Faculty of International and Political Studies, which is one of the newest departments at the oldest university in Poland.
The Institute of Intercultural Studies was founded in 2001 to address the challenges of the contemporary world through research and teaching. The faculty does its best to contribute its expertise to a better understanding of such issues as multiculturalism, international migration, intercultural communication, ethnic relations, minority status or integration processes, and globalization. Focused on a better understanding of such a complex range of issues, the institute has facilitated the cooperation of researchers from different disciplinary background since its inception. Interdisciplinarity is a characteristic feature of the institute where you can find sociologists, historians, anthropologists, political scientists and, specialists in the field of cultural studies. We are proud to be the first Polish research center covering such a broad range of research problems related to intercultural relations from an interdisciplinary perspective.
